What is Yin Yoga?

Why practice it?

Yin yoga is a transformational style of yoga when practiced, with Mindfulness, of the Breath and the Body. Yin yoga, As with all Yoga, can work on all 4 dimensions of the body – the energetic, the physical, the mental and the emotional.

We learn how to stabilise the mind and stay present in the moment during mini meditation practices while we hold yin poses.

Yin increases your flexibility; it stretches and targets both the deep connective tissues between the muscles and the fascia throughout the body. The aim is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility as the poses stretch and exercise the bone and joint areas.

So a person may well benefit from a yin practice to restore energy levels when they are particularly tired but conversely a person who is running on adrenalin and has high energy can benefit from a calming, soothing yin practice, to bring down cortisol, adrenalin and stress hormones that are keeping them going.

We live in a world of deadlines and appointments; anxiety and stress are so common. What better way to switch off than to sit still in poses anywhere from three to five minutes? It is a truly beautiful way to find space to slow your mind down and be guided deeper into your practice.
Practicing Yin gives you that wonderful Yoga afterglow where you find that moment of absolute peace within yourself. 
This practice is suitable for everyBODY!
