Hello July

The sun is definitely shining in River Holistic………..July is all about getting your chill on here at the Centre.  With the schools now closed for the summer you may be wondering what can you do for yourself once the little ones have gone off to camp during the mornings or when they have headed off to dreamland in the evening.

Well we may have the perfect classes and treatments for you.  Lets face it, the summer months can be a bit draining for all of us mams and dads, between working with taking time off, trying to keep the kids occupied and well not quite having your own space, let us help you with that.

We have the honour of welcoming some amazing new teachers to the River Room, their classes which include pregnancy yoga, pilates, yoga for sports, kundalini yoga, hatha yoga and Vinyasa yoga.
Sure if you have no idea idea about which style may suit you, they have drop in spaces available throughout the summer for you to try before you buy.
Below you will find out more details of who these teachers are and what their classes can add to your life.

Manifest the birth you Deserve

Manifest The Birth You Deserve

For my whole life, I have been practicing “The Law of Attraction”. Some might call this “The Secret” but when I am around it is no secret. I have spread this amazing information around and it has changed family and friend’s life for the better. It gave me and them some control over their outside life. Most people think that our family, relationships, home, career, happiness is something that we are given and we can’t change – (Sorry! We can’t change our family, but we can manifest how our relationship with them is!). The tools I learnt over the years have shaped my life as I know it and have shaped my future – which excited me! So it was a no-brainer that I would look at this more in depth when it comes to my passion – Midwifery and Birth.

A quick outline of the Law of Attraction and how it works:

The thoughts we put out into the universe shape our outside world.

  • Like attracts like.
  • Positivity brings positivity.
  • Thoughts become things.

That all sounds very nice and fluffy but how do we actually put it in to action?

The first step is to ASK:

When we ask the universe for a very clear thing, whether that might be the dream job, the dream man, or money in your bank account the law of attraction says ‘Ask and you shall receive’ and gives you exactly that that you put all your focus on. But here is the catch, in our everyday life we don’t ask for what we want, we usually talk and think about that which we don’t want. For example, ‘Oh god, I am so scared to give birth, I am going to be in a state, I am not going to be able for this, I need the epidural as soon as I get my first contraction’. And the universe says ‘Ask and you shall receive’.

We need to change our language but in particular our thoughts when it comes to birth. Focusing more on thoughts and phrases for example.

My body knows how to birth my baby

‘I am a strong and confident woman, my body knows exactly what to do’

‘I feel completely in control of my amazing birth’

 

The second step is to BELIEVE:

The real magic from manifesting comes from this part. Belief! We need to believe with every cell in our amazing body that these affirmations and thoughts are true. When you say your affirmations at first you will think that you are going crazy. The more you say them and the more you feel the belief building in your energy that is when the power of the manifestation works.

Visualise yourself with all your mind and body having the most wonderful birth, something that you would of never imagined. Imagine yourself full of confidence during your labour and fully in control and what that feels like. My favourite visualisation to do is to visualise how you feel when it is all over and you have your wonderful healthy baby in your arms, and your supportive birthing partner with you. Fully immerse yourself in this blissful feeling of how well you did, and how amazing you are. Even go as far as visualising details of your baby like, their smells, and tiny fingers and toes!

The final step – the easiest one, is to RECEIVE:

Personally, my favourite!

What an amazing feeling when you receive your manifestations. It helps to look up videos on the Law of Attraction from amazing successful people like Oprah Winfrey that has used this tool with amazing benefit.

Allow yourself to receive all of the abundance and happiness you deserve!

Meet Gemma from Yoga Therapy Dublin

 

My own experience

I took my first yoga class at 18 years old during my leaving Cert year, and I will never forget how light I felt going home. I was hooked! I took classes casually for a few years but at 21 I suffered chronic whiplash from a car crash and took yoga more seriously as it was the only thing I was able to do and it gave me such release, physically and emotionally in my recovery. Now at 33 and having had a baby, I have experienced yoga in many different forms and have a different appreciation of it. I have used it as rehabilitation, to reduce anxiety, to meditate and to nurture my body through pregnancy and motherhood.

Teaching

I have an advanced ashtanga practice myself, something which I am looking forward to getting back to soon. I keep my classes on the smaller side as I wish to give a more individualised instruction approach to my teaching. I focus strongly on correct alignment and giving students the appropriate instruction for their needs. My classes in general are challenging but not beyond people’s level of ability. I focus strongly on the present which brings a strong meditative quality to my classes and enables my students to practice mindfulness.

As requested I have scheduled a class dedicated to athletes to sequence asanas targeting hips, legs and core. However this class is of course suitable for everyone.

My pregnancy yoga class is dedicated to those amazing woman undertaking this powerful journey. This class will not just ease away those aches and pains, but will prepare your body for delivery. This class will also nurture you emotionally to prepare you for the type of delivery you will have and empower you to make informed choices. You will meet other Mums in the area which can be a great support not just now, but post partum.

My post natal yoga is to again nurture the body after delivery. In particular this class will focus on rehabilitating the pelvic floor. The body is an amazing thing and has been through so much. During pregnancy and delivery, the weight of your growing baby has put a lot of pressure on the pelvic floor as well as some organs. Hormones have further relaxed ligaments and muscles in this area. Not strengthening this area post natally can lead to serious problems now and down the road. This class will give you the opportunity to heal with the added bonus of being able to bring along your baby so no need to worry about feeding, changing etc., anything goes here 😉

How excited are we at River Holistic………..June has most certainly arrived in all it’s glory. It feels like a re-birth for our amazing clinic. We are going to open the doors to our new space, The River Room, which means the arrival of new therapists and lots of new classes to choose from. Don’t fret, we still have all of our existing amazing therapists onsite to help make this your holistic home.

April Newsletter

Welcome to the April edition of our Newsletter.

Hello,

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter and enjoyed the chocolate feast. If you need some detox and relaxation, you know where we are. We have so much on this April & May, I’m bursting to tell you.

It’s exam season coming up, which can be a pressurised time for both those taking exams and family members supporting them! We know, it’s like you are taking the exams too! We have lots of support to offer during much needed rest breaks, from message, reiki, reflexology to acupuncture. All available to nurture your body and soul and have you bouncing back to the study desk.

To our wonderful clients who made March a joy to be holistic therapists, we look forward to welcoming you back in April. To those who have yet to visit us, we look forward to welcoming you to your new holistic home.

For all you therapists out there who have taken a career break and want to re hone your skills, we have refresher workshops in reflexology and massage coming up in April and May.
