Huayruro seeds
Huayruro are the seeds of the Ormosia coccinea, a leguminous plant common in Peru. Huayruro means something like ‘Lucky berry’. The lucky berry grows in a bean-like shell. During the rainy season, due to the alternation of rain and sun, the seeds jump open and fall to the ground. These seeds have been harvested for generations, to make jewellery. The appeal of the berry comes not only from their beautiful red colour, but also from the power these seeds are said to possess. They are known to bring happiness and prosperity, and repel negative energies and evil spirits.
Caution: Not suitable for children and do not put in your mouth, the seeds are poisonous if you eat them!
