Morning – Introduction to Mindfulness Course

Mondays 10 – 11.30 am

What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness means “paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment and
non-judgementally” (Jon Kabat Zinn). To me personally, it means coming home to ourselves, with
kindness and compassion, and being fully awake in our daily lives.

This Mindfulness Course is an introduction to the practices, theory and “everyday tools” that allow
us to live a more mindful life.
It is a blend of teaching various mindfulness theories and practical tools, along with experiential
learning through the practice of various mindfulness meditations. (Draws on the teaching of
M.B.S.R/M.B.C.T and positive psychology).
Research suggests that there are many benefits of practicing mindfulness, including:
 Improving Physical Health (including managing chronic pain, improving sleep quality).
 Improving Mental Health (including a reduction in Stress/Anxiety/Rumination).
 Improves concentration and working memory.
 Promotes overall wellbeing.
(Home practice between classes is recommended and encouraged).
This Course is perfect for beginners to the practice of Mindfulness and those who wish to revisit its
fundamentals.
