Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping

What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio Taping originates from the science of kinesiology which studies muscles functions and their ability to move the body in different ways. It was developed by Japanese Chiropractor, Dr Kenzo Kase in 1979 and first gained widespread attention in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. It is used by high profile athletes such as David Beckham, Serena Williams and professional golfer Michele Wie.

Kinesiology tape, a thin, stretchy, elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive, is almost identical to human skin in both thickness and elasticity, which allows kinesio tape to be worn without binding, constricting or restriction of your movement. The tape is latex-free and does not contain any medications or topical ingredients. For pain management purposes, the tape is meant to slightly lift skin away from sore or injured tissues, improving blood flow to support injured joints and muscles without obstructing the range of motion.
