Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or tapping as it is often referred to as, is a way of releasing stress and anxiety by tapping on acupressure points around the body.  It is also sometimes referred to as emotional acupuncture, or acupuncture without the needles!

It is a combination of traditional Eastern healing and more modern western healing and provides a bridge between talking and body therapies.

If you think of your body as being a river, and when we experience a negative emotion, pain, or memory of a trauma, it is like a tree has fallen into the river and is stopping the energy flowing freely.  Every time you recall the event that leads to the feelings, you experience tension or a block, which brings back the emotion.

By tapping on selected acupressure points, we are stimulating all of the major meridians in the body, removing the blocks and allowing the energy to flow freely in your body.  This promotes feelings of calmness, allowing you to focus on and resolve your issues.

EFT is a simple and empowering technique.

During a session, you focus on the issue at hand: a fear or anxiety, a bad memory, an unresolved problem, or anything that’s bothering you.  While maintaining your focus on this issue, you tap on acupressure points around the body using your fingertips, while repeating words related to the issue.  So, it’s a talking and tapping therapy.

The results are surprisingly quick and lasting.  Strong emotions such as fear, anger, shame and sadness dissolve into clear thinking, enabling a fresh view and the ability to move forwards and get on with life.  

While it can be used for general stress and anxiety, it is really effective at working at a much deeper level to eliminate negative beliefs, attitudes and behaviours.
