Amatsu Massage

Amatsu Massage

Amatsu Massage

Amatsu is a modern adaptation of an ancient Japanese physical therapy and holistic approach to your health. It is a gentle, corrective, hands-on treatment that restores well-being and balance to the body. The therapist gently mobilises and manipulates the body to improve flexibility , posture and re-establish alignment and symmetry to the body.

It can be administered to most musculoskeletal problems for correction, pain management and rehabilitation. It most closely resembles Western Osteopathy, although in practice it tends to be much more gentle.

Amatsu massage is a holistic soft-tissue therapy that treats the whole body. While a specific injury may be the reason for a treatment, the treatment will seek out and treat the underlying causes of the problem, working with the soft tissues of the body to help balance the skeletal system and thus allow the body to heal itself naturally. It is a gentle non-invasive therapy that is suitable for people of any age.

What does a treatment consist of?

What can I expect?

A treatment, referred to as a Balance, normally takes 45-60 minutes. For the most part treatments are carried out fully clothed. In the first session a detailed medical history is taken along with a lifestyle questionnaire.

After appraising your needs the practitioner will use a number of techniques including mobilisation, repatterning, anma massage and cranial balancing among others. A ten minute massage completes the treatment and ensures integration of the changes made during the treatment.
